Just  a small update.

Everything is starting to come together now. Managed to get everything into a not rolling chassis today. Wheels are painted but the laquer is still drying so didn't get time to fit them too. just a couple of pics to show progress so far. Pics not all that great cos i'm still on the phone camera and i couldn't get far enough away to get a full pic. Hopefully it'llbe a roller by the end of next weekend. Total cost of build so far? about £30 on paint and laquer rattle cans and a bit of wet and dry   :)

Your frame certainly looks good in "sexy satin black"  ;)

updates coming thick and fast now. Got the old girl in a rolling chassis today and am rather impressed with the results so far. engine cases still need to be taken off and polished, and really must get round to finish the front frame rails so i can get a side  stand on it, but it's definately coming along :)

small update.

I god damn hate bleed nipples. Encountered a problem today when attempting to remove said nipples. Namely they sheared off. Not only on the caliper that i was using, but also the spare one that i sourced prior to the build in case of exactly this happening. seriously annoyed as prior to this i had spent a good two hours modifying the caliper mount to fit in the swingarm properly without having to stretch it appart. Of course it isn't a standard srx one, of which i have at least one spare (with  free nipple) and managed to find another three exactly the same hunting through the yard, its off  a FZR 400 which has the banjo on top not on the side.

A solution was at hand though as I managed to get a caliper and mount off a GS 500 to fit. Not as pretty, but a lot more plentiful, so hopefully the rear caliper setup is nowsorted. On a plus note, the front calipers shed their nipples with no fuss at all, so they'll hopefully be blasted and painted tomatch the silver of the forks in the next couple of weeks or so.

Hopefully i'll have some pictures of the headlight fitted tomorrow as i have polished up the headlight mounts and modified the srx bracket to suit the forks i am using.

nb. mentioning nipples four times in a post must be some sort of record :)

front is fzr, which is a pretty standard yamaha front used on 400, 600,1000 and fazer 600 and 1000. rear is bandit 400.

due to the unforseen theft of my xbr, emergency 'get the damn srx on the road so i can get to work tommorrow' work was undertaken today. fortunately the xbr was found and my transport woes are once again over. However, bar the two new tyres it needs this is the end result. I'll pop up some better pictures when its been mot'd and i can take the bike somewhere a bit nicer to get some better shots, but for now......
