XBR tank fit GB TT

does anyone know if a tank from an XBR will fit a GB TT without too much modification ,wouldn't mind doing a colour change for fun.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no.  I seem to recall the GB tank is slightly longer than the XBR tank so you'll have a gap at the tank/seat and it'll probably throw the alignment with the sidepanels too.  The XBR and GB frames ( and so parts) are not interchangeable, similar, but there are a number of subtle differences between them.  I've never seen an XBR/GB tank swap done. Also good secondhand XBR tanks are getting scarce.

No probs with my GB tank I just thought if an XBR tank fitted I might do a trick paint job.

It will give me something to do (finding a GB tank)

I'm pretty sure they're different too. Got it in my head that the rear mount is different.

It just wouldn't look right with an XBR tank.

Good luck finding a GB tank - they're rarer than the XBR ones! ( Try German Ebay - they like the GB over there).

Hi sainty if you do go down the ally tank route I wud be very interested to see the results. Kud look brilliant if done rite. ( which I,m sure it wud) .  Please keep me posted of any progress if you decide to go ahead. Especially things like lead times on having said tank made, 12 months I,m lead to believe, and who you decide to use. There,s a guy somewhere in deepest darkest Wales of whom I,ve heard good reports. Can,t remember his name tho. ( it,s an age thing I,m told). Best of luck.  Ps enjoyed chatting the other week, the garage door is ( nearly ) always open.  Regards moto63

Ah yes I have heard of the guy in Wales he did a tank for my mates Maxton TZ Yamaha.
I am in discussions with these guys sadly they need a donor tank.
I will pop up and show you my GB when I am happy with it, cheers.

A friend with  a stunning GB sent his slightly porous tank to these guys

There may have been enough layers of lacquer so that it only wept. It's not until you buff off the shine and Isopon or lead that the 'worm' below becomes visible. As always the polish isn't what matters, the structure and mechanical integraty is. I am not defending your radiator repairer, but surprised that a radiator repair is considered the same as a motorcycle tank repair.

The rad company trades under the Re-Nu England banner and they pressure tested my mates tank and blew it all out of shape then tried to fix it and fill it with filler so that it weighs as much as an ordinary tank but full of fuel,a right mess and scrap as far as I am concerned. As always you need the right man for the job.
PS I used to go to school on a Ducati 175 Silverstone I think I gave £50 for it happy days.

As for the PS, yep, I suspect I was buying Bantams in tea chests for £5-00, when you did that and one on the road with 2 months tax was £25-00. OK! I know I was robbed, but it had a Todd head on it!
