Ahh me, seasonal activity - smokey and slightly OT
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:13:34 AM »
I was bamming home yesterday, and the bike was on song - beautiful-(thanks 002).  ;D

As I came into town I applied the brakes - no big grab or anything but whoops out she went and down we went in a shower of sparks, arse!! :o

There I was sliding down the road thinking about how bent things were going to be. :(

When I stopped the guy I had overtaken some way back pulled up - you OK? I was, "20 years since I rode an MZ" he said. Figure that one, the guy who stops is an ex-MZ rider.  ::)

Anyway a cursory examination reveals bent footrest, handlebars and gear lever, and one broken indicator.  :(

Not bad I thought, no new marks on the tank, slight champher on the front mudguard and the clutch lever, which was intact.   ???

So with a bit of luck we should be back together in time for the Dragon.  ;)

As for me I am a bit sore, wax jacket has a small hole in one pocket but the lid is unscathed. Hood trousers holed but I wasn't. :'(

Conclusion: these are as tough a bike as you find anywhere.  ;D

Aahh yes, the first sign of winter. There was a crossroads on a minor road on the way to work which was a frost hollow, it always froze when all the roads around it were fine. I could always tell that winter was here the first time I arrived at the crossroads horizontal instead of vertical.....I arrived horizontal on many occasions...  Glad you and the bike were  relatively unscathed.

Mark - "buy something good with the insurance money..".....There is a bike better than a 2T MZ? :o Surely not, wonderful machines.

If you look on the Mothercare website they are selling off stabilisers.  ;)

Could have been worse. Could have been the Guzzi. Local council would be looking to recover the money spent on filling the large trench left by a horizontal T3.  :o

When I was down in Otago, I think my CD175 was the only vehicle that could navigate the icy roads. Cars seemed to be off more than on. But sometimes on a steep downhill I had to clench my butt pretty hard.

Pleased your ok, and the bike not too badly damaged. winter roads can be treacherous, we have quite a few cattle grids round here, they can be fun :(
