Gentlemen,

For the edification of those with a penchant for militaria, waxed cotton, naval history, British invention and motorcycling history including the late Steve McQueen in the ISDT.

Please go to this 'blogg' and have a look at the entry dated 30/12/2009. Will we ever see there like again?

'Ursula suit'

On the same 'blogg' you might also care to read the entry for 16/11/2009 at the bottom.

Toodle pip, Bill.

Aye Gc,

Count the beans first!

Then investigate the costs of providing oiled wool + pattern, to a family member who produces chain link fencing using crowbars and mild steel wire. They will find the lanolin soothing to the hands!  ::)

Cheery, cheery, Bill.

A bit about how Belstaff became a fashion brand, rather than a memory.

Two of the nicest pieces of bike clothing I have/had were Belstaff. A simple black leather jacket bought from the BMF back when you could get bargains, and a one piece nylon oversuit. The jacket bit the dust in a crash back in 2000 and had to be cut off me, but the oversuit still lives on, and still works.
Anyway, whilst that is  nothing to do with wax cotton, I was looking at riding coats on the weekend. You definitely get what you pay for. A friend used to have a Drizabone coat and swore by it.
Thanks for the blog find Mr Moudie, I enjoyed reading it.

Belstaff material is not at all exclusive to belstaff. The material belstaff uses is what british millerain call (CHERA 6).
The weight is 270 grams per meter and cost £4 per linear meter. this can be checked out with british millerain.
CHERA 6 is made to order (ONLY) when they stock has ran out but anyone can purchase a 50m roll from british millerain at the moment.

Claymore Jackets are made from CHERA 8 which is 375 grams per meter. The difference in price between the two materials is a grand price of 25p per meter.
Claymore Jackets are all made to order and will stand up to belstaff any day of the week. The quality control of claymore is much harsher than belstaff because there a very small company and are just starting out.

I see that there's a couple of links for some cheap wax cotton motorcycle jackets for £59 on ebay in the forum, these sellers state that there made in england. I aways remember Delboy asking what he could smell, (BULLSHIT). These jackets are 100% made in china. it takes 15 hours alone to make a wax cotton belstaff style jacket. these people offer free postage and have to pay ebay and paypal fees on top. its not rocket science. The wonder of ebay!!.

Let me know how it goes Pat, I could be interested in a new International jacket if they're good (no offence Mr Claymore!)

Edited to add, does he (do you!?) do the international trousers?
