Yamaha MT03

Anyone here got one or ridden one?

I'm harbouring a strange desire to sell all my shite bikes and buy one of these. I will probably never act on it, but I'd be interested to know how they go.

You have been out of the loop for a while GC !

Check out 'new bike on the horizon' and 'Engine warning light' threads a couple of pages back  - Hacksbridge Cossack has just bought one! ;D

PS

Also check out 'Have you got deep pockets?' - not an MT03 but I think you may appreciate it!  :'(

Hi GC, please read my reply to Cossacks thread. You will def need a Power Commander on one if you are going to buy one. I fell out with my local bike dealer over this bike. BUT you take as you find...you may like the bike entirely without a PC. Just make sure you go for a GOOD test ride on one through all sorts of traffic conditions, then make your mind up...better still try 2 different bikes at different dealers

Good Luck

I'm not sure how an action figure of a martial arts superhero dressed in lycra will help... oops, sorry, confusing it with power rangers.  ;)

What (excuse my ignorance) is a Power Commander? If it's a big sensible rack to strap your bacon sarnies and waterproofs to then yes, of course, the bike is crying out for just such an item... and an umbrella rack.  :D

I can see that I'm going to have to trawl through old posts aren't I. I'll get back to this subject later after doing my homework.

Hi tech ignition/ fuel injection system

Power Commander

Fuel injection Power Commander V

Apparently you can tune the engine mapping/ fueling using your laptop   :-\

...electrickery...black magic....far too technical for a humble XBR jockey!  ( what wrong with CDI?)

Graham,

I've got one!! Come down to sunny Hackbridge in Souff Lundon and you can have a go on it. It's interesting to say the least. I think its a bit of a wild wild beast still after 3 weeks, though my adrenaline glands had been sterilised by my previous bike, the YBR125.  :o

It's high in the seat. In fact I think its very high and I'm 5' 11''. Bars are very wide and mine are made worse as the previous owner fitted hand guards. However, it leaps off the start line (traffic lights) like a cat with its tail on fire. Bearing in mind how high it sits and the lesser impression of speed you get compared to a lower bike like me birds old CBR600, I feel that it accelerates faster than the CBR! Awesome.  :D

Read my other thread on the nonsense 3-4k steady throttle built-in feature of this fuel injected 660 lump.  :-\

I do plan to do a decent write-up on my wild beast (wilderbeast  ;D) at some conjecture. Hey, if its sunny tomorrow, then I will do some pictures and submit them.

Sounds like a hoot then  ;)

I'd take you up on your offer, but honestly, have you seen me ride  ;)

Steve C - thanks for the power commander details.

I am a bit sad on the reg plates and "MT03 GGO" was still available last time i looked
