'The Plough' is a Cardiff pub, it's RobG's local (mine too as it happens). By some strange geographical quirk it has a large number of hardcore bikers in its clientele. Various TCers will know it from beer-sodden nights out in Cardiff in our company.

Just thought I'd add that for the benefit of the other forum users who might have wondered what that post was about.

The bars are big and exacerbated by the hand guards. Nearly trashed a door mirror yesterday as they stick out so much! Methinks I will take the guards off and make the whole plot at least 4 inches narrower    Just need to find out what size balance/anti-vibration weights need to go on instead, if any. The bike came with them fitted by a previous owner.

It also came with a luggage rack, so there is lots of space for my tent, sleeping bag, kitchen sink....perfect camping vehicle.

Any long trip will be a pain as it goes onto 'reserve' after 80 miles! How poor is that. Realistic tank range before you need to start pushing it is about 120 miles. Oh the horror of it, my traded-in YBR125 did 120 to the gallon with at least 260 miles before starting to worry me. Having said that though, 80 miles and the plank has numbed our posterior so a break is needed!!

I was drinking in the Plough last night as it happens... Very jolly it was, one bloke turned up on his pristine recently restored and tuned Ducati Mach 1. It was a delight watching him paddle start it at the end of the night, he doesn't have a kick-start.

I just got an MT03 in May. Standard exhaust, no Power Commander  etc.

It's MUCH more civilised than styling suggests, being hyped to new bikers, (apparently it just gets under the 44HP limit for just-passed-test...then the kidz put race cans/Power Commanders on!). I'm really enjoying it as an old-fashioned gentlemanly ride, but with smashing agility and good brakes. Maybe I got a good one: no carburation probs at all.

BUT....
rock-hard seat, sore after 30 miles. Have spent big bucks on an Airhawk seat, otherwise would have sold it.

Try (a long ride) before you buy.
