Blimey, you would think that you didn't want to be indebted not only to the manufacturer but also their service and spares departments for the upkeep of your fine machine.
Unemployed motorcycle mechanics, dangerous alternative spares sources, terrible damage to the whole NVQ industry, less new bike sales. In other words, a disaster.
Keep thinking the way you are and we'll have to send you off for a re-education course in the benefits of modern oligopolitistic capitalism.
Steady on.

Really of course we represent a market not worth selling much to. We keep older bikes running for ages (not buying new ones), cobble repairs, modify, enjoy. That puts the majority of us in the secondhand market. We don't have much of a trade association and the government can't make us adapt to ever more stringent environmental regulations based solely on emissions rather than life cost.
Drums don't often seize, of course they don't slow you down that much either. Whats wrong with the good old surface evaporation carburretor either. Who needs a gearbox, just swap belts, thats what I say.
And of course I rmember when we were all asking the Japanese to introduce a nice simple single, it would sell like hotcakes we said. Seen many SR500s around recently, or even when new in the UK ?
Haven't even had a drink.
