"must have done 40+thousand miles on that. After 100thou on my 550F i had from new.God knows how many miles I did on the assortment of MZ 250s I had at the time.
Good Days ! Some Bad,wouldnt want to do it now !"
Delete 550F replace with GS550, delete MZ250 insert Z200 (amongst others) and
Amen to that!! Had to ride through the centre of town the other day and was stunned how out of practice I am compared to what I used to be like

Despatching is a laugh (mostly) when you are young and 1. bounce well 2. can deal with the cold and 3. have no significant responsibilities... it's no way to make a living though

100,000 miles in one year* stopped me enjoying riding bikes for a couple of years after that. I still have to be in the right mood to enjoy a really long run. Don't make your hobby into a job, it ruins it!!
*really, no b*****it, I was working all year without a break, some weekends as well and generally averaged 2,000+ miles a week

you do a monthly service every Saturday and replace the bike every six months because they just fall apart. It starts fun then just descends into a grind, but you're full of adrenaline all day so the work is ok in the summer and just a habit in the winter. Coffee to get you going in the morning then the recreational drug of your choice in the evening (like beer officer) to calm you down enough to sleep (well fall unconcious actually) explains how I look nowadays lol
