Brake Pads

With such a plethora of pads on the market, which one do you go for? I ride my XBR occasionally but when I do I do tend to brake heavily on the front brake. Which one would you recommend? Brembo pads look OK but which one?

I've used Brembo pads before and they were fine, these days I tend to use EBC but for no particular reason. Generally get a known brand rather than some you see on Ebay etc. Sintered pads were thought to give better braking but wear the disc a bit faster. Big thing I've found with XBR's is to check that both brake pistons are coming on evenly, XBR's tend to suffer with sticky pistons and I often found that one is coming on more than the other which makes a big difference to the brake performance. Working properly I've never found the XBR front brake wanting for normal road riding.

Oh, if you don't already have one get a braided front brake hose, that helps too.

Every thing is fine at the moment, it is just that since purchasing the bike over 4 years ago I have never had cause to change them. They are working fine at the moment it is just a precautionary measure. The same thing with the spark plug, never had it out!

It's worth just loosening it a few tyrns then nip it up again from time to time as they can get very tight.

I've fitted some 'GoldFren' sintered pads to the front of my CB250RS and quite frankly they don't seem as good as the EBC ones.

Ferodo Platinum are the biz. Wet braking is great.
