Hi there. Thought I'd share some pics of my SRX project. Shouldn't be too long before I try to start it up...how do I get pics on to here?

Hi Leah,
Im sure someone will post the official way to post photos on here but I load my pics onto Photobucket and then add the link from the menu above with a "direct link" from your photo. Im not really very good at explaining this but when you do it youll find its easier to do than for me to explain. Hmm I bet that is as clear as mud   :-[  Hope this helps

Ian :)

Go to the top banner bar of this page and click on FAQ. The 5th question down tell you how to upload your photos.  ;)

Hi. Here are afew random pics of the SRX. It now has an exhaust on it but the carbs are off having a bath in cola. I had a spark but no fuel getting through so carbs must be bunged up. Once I can get him running it'll just be a question of doing the paintjob & some serious polishing! May even be on the road this summer!

By the way, how can I join the Thumper Club?

They all had the twin carb set up...Yamaha reckon its to help with economy but Im sure someone else will come along and give you the technical heave ho on them

Yes, apparently the smaller one does lower speed running then the big one takes over at higher revs. This gives great fuel economy for the performance so they say...

I'll just be happy if mine starts & runs OK! I'm almost at the stage of trying to start it having stripped the carbs apart and soaked them in coke for a good week. I had them in an ultrasonic bath (tip- NEVER start an ultrasonic bath with fresh, fizzy coke in it unless you want to be cleaning it up for ever after  :-[)

So, having soaked and buzzed them in a coke bath I cleaned them with water in said ultrasonic bath. There was a lot of gunk in the bottom of it afterwards so fingers crossed they cleaned up OK. :-\

Will let you know...

What with this nice example and all the other fancy SRXs appearing out of the woodwork I think it would be a good idea to drag some of them over to the MonoConnection Rally in the Netherlands (see events page for details). I'm probably going over Sun. 29 August, return Sun. 5 Sept - Hull to Rotterdam (overnight ferry). If anyone else is thinking of going the same time/route drop me a message. There is always an excellent collection of standard and exotic SRXs on show, plus the site they are using this year is very good (as always), it's not far to get to from Rotterdam/H-of-H, and there is free vintage road racing on the Saturday - What reason is there not to go?

Good effort by the way Leah.
