weekend debrief........wot you'all bin up to then..
« on: December 03, 2006, 08:22:39 PM »
For me it's been a question of sharing my time between 3 projects which all require more time than i can give them
1, wind generator...got nearly as far as i can with this, until i can convince the plonkers at windsave that it's ok to put their generator on my pylon rather than the house wall
pylon is built, wiring in place......
2, installation of solar water panels.....well, got a couple of secondhand ones available soon, plumbing is about half done, but ties in with ....
3, 2000ltr heatstore, tank is made and sits in garage on pedestal, all plumbing in loft done, 'just' need to plumb in radiators, backboiler need fitting into woodburner and plumbing
into tank , it was supposed to be all up and running by christmas.......probably next christmas
4, srx No1, poor old girl sits in garage in bits, waiting for me to get a new piston and get the barrel rebored, taking it up to 640cc, january with any luck (pity i missed that one  that went on ebay in november)
5, track bike, wots blown the head gasket (for the umpteenth time) grasping at straws now, all the threads have been helicoiled and are still ok, so am going to get the head and barrel 'faced' the same time as i get #1 rebored, but all this is not exactly weekend debrief, more a way of me realising what a humungous pile of cr*p there is outstanding, and that's before her indoors presents me with the proper job list !!

Hi Steve, Yesterday I picked up a few bits for my carb rebuild, I still need a few "O" rings. Today I rubbed down my newly made luggage rack and gave it three coats of plain black hammerite, looks lovely, now all I need to do is load it up and think of somewhere to go. I expect Boyd will find me a suitable destination. Not the most exciting weekend I'm afraid but at least i did a few miles on the SRX on  Saturday. Mart

Work :(

and more sit ups and press ups at one time than I've done all year! :o
Even sitting here typing my stomach and shoulders are aching :( damn I'm starting to feel old sometimes lol

I think it's time for that t-shirt a few of my colleagues have been threatening to commission for a few years, the one with big letters on the back saying "I'm too old for this sh*t!!" ;)

Up early on Saturday to take part in a charity petfood collection for the local PDSA run by Mammoth mcc in Hull. It was nice to see the positive reactions of people to a  varied collection of motorcycles trundling round town. Saturday evening I escorted Mrs 433 to the Pelican Inn (very pro biker and well worth a visit if you're ever in the area) where we proceeded to watch the band and I made a heroic attempt to stop people getting drunk by swallowing all the guinness.
And so to bed.
Got a lift with a friend to Bradford Sunday morning to look at a bike shop offering some very cheap bikes. Is it me or are all bike shops staffed at weekends by kids who failed the IQ test at McDonalds? It's probably me. Apart from that I've done bugger all and its taken all day.

Nowt much, just a bit of bumbling about. Popped in to see GC and measure the rear wheel spacer on his XBR, and stripped both brake callipers ready for a sort out/paint, but other than that bugger all.

Nothing bikey as I'm on nights. Sunday early mornings' heavy rain brought trees down and flash floods all over the place which made my drive home from Gatwick Airport er,... interesting

Well, I spent Friday afternoon collecting the Dog, Saturday making a table top to seat 8 of us at Christmas and Sunday clearing the garage to get at the "spare" freezer to take the dinosaur we have to buy to feed everyone. Nearest thing to bike activity was washing the MZ, fixing dodgy contacts on the brake light and a trip to the supermarket to pick up forgotten onions. Still as the town centre and car park has now turned into a place for people to wander aimlessly in the name of Christmas shopping, a 14 year old MZ with engine bars and a working horn is a very useful tool!

Still, my other half has decided to work between Christmas and the New Year, so I'll be making up for it then.

I had a kooky weekend. Saturday morning was spent getting my Landy's spare wheel fixed and then trundling off to quote on a job. Saturday afternoon was spent at a kiddies party.

Very early on Sunday morning I drove the Landy up to Glynneath to deliver a truck cab that I'd sold on Ebay. Had a pleasant chat to the buyer then drove back in what appeared to be an ocean of water dumped on my head.

Had to go to a christening on Sunday afternoon, but the dullness was kept at bay by a marvellous buffet. Sunday evening was spent watching telly with Mrs Onepot.

A very dull weekend, but lots of family brownie points so that's good.

Absolutely no bike activity at all this weekend :-(

That's not a bike, it's a decorative garden feature :-(

So you were in Glynneath then - so you passed the door then - so you did not drink tea and quote on a job here then.  I am mortally wounded.  Never mind - however you would have loved to see where the plumber got his van stuck - unfortunatly he had moved it before I got a picture.

I had to do a dash to get the cab to this buyer... how close did I come to your place? (I went via the A470 and Aberdare)

Due to my home commitments I had ot be at Glyneath for 9.00 and leaving for home by 9.30 :-(

Glynneath - about 10 maybe 15 miles, but out of your way - down into the Afan valley rather than the Nedd - however do you want to look at this work we have?
