End of the Enfield 500

The grapevine has it that production of the 500 will end sometime this year. Presumably due to emissions regs.

For all its faults and limitations in the modern world, it's a great shame to lose it. (Assuming the rumours are true).

They'll become highly sought after rarities. Alternatively (and perhaps more realistically) clattery old nails......

I think the selling point has always been that they're a "modern" bike with the supposed character of an old one.

All of these news stories people are quoting are talking about the Indian market, where the 350 massively outsells the 500 version anyway.  I really cannot see then axing the 500 model from the European and US markets, where do not even sell the 350 version.  These days the 350 and 500 bullets are essentially the same bike with just different bore and stroke.  If they are making a new 350 for India then it seems highly unlikely to me that they would not still sell a 500 version in Europe and the US.
