Percy Tait RIP

One of British motorcycle racings characters passed on 17th November 2019 and I just thought a link to his Wikipedia listing appropriate. His racing Triumphs exploits were closely followed by me and many others in the late '60's and '70's. RIP.

I was very interested to read about this man I'd never heard of before. An impressive life and "taking the chequered flag" for the final time, aged 90 ain't bad either! Thanks for the link.

Thanks for posting that Bill I didn't know he'd died. Not only was he a really successful racer but he made the Yamaha XS650 handle properly by bracing the frame in just the right place. I think I am right in saying he raced my all time favourite motorbike Slippery Sam at some point. A real British hero in my opinion.

P.S. Just read the linked Wikipedia article and of course it mentions Slippery Sam, should have read that first!

he was a racer born & bred, but with the empathy for his machines that only comes from being a good engineer ... a very approachable character, will be sadly missed, after an innings that i'm sure we'd all aspire to.
