I have taken my own advise and used the 'SEARCH' to read previous threads about Rotax MT's or CCM's. Also, fancy a Morini 350V!  :o

Spares seem readily available for the Rotax motor and prices probably cheaper than Yamaha or Ducati singles. Morini 350V spares I suspect are going to become harder to find and more expensive since the demise of NLM!  :(

So, may I ask for real life experiences with Rotax MT's or CCM's?  And Morini 350V' if you have owned one!  :)

Ease of use, ability to either wiffle down single track roads or canter at 60mph - 70mph down a dual carriageway. The MT 350 panniers and front disc brake appear to be plusses unless tacking in crosswinds, but, I suspect I would like a bit more torque from a 500, 604 motor. But do I need it?  ???

Thank you for your time and patience.

Good health, Bill

I didn't know NLM had gone under - a shame as they seemed (from people who had Morinis) to be excellent.

What has always put me off the Morinis is their left foot kickstart (quiet at the back there there crazyfrog). Hateful things. When I was looking around for something to meet similar requirements to yours I came up with the Guzzi V50 - perhaps not as "charismatic" as the Morini but ticked (and continues to tick) a lot of boxes for me. Cheaper than the Morinis, excellent spares situation, electric start, light weight. Of course shaft drive doesn't suit everyone. One's just gone on ebay for £2,400.

I've just looked on eBay Ian, and I'm horrified to see that not content with destroying all the nice original old airhead BMW's, the garden shed angle grinder brigade appear to have moved on to V50's. If you hang on to yours for a few years, the price will rocket as all the others are ruined turned into specials.  :(

I exempt all of the talented folk on here who turn out some amazing specials from my ire, but there is an unfortunate element of garden shed hackers who should never, ever be let near an angle grinder IMHO. The secret of happiness is understanding your own limitations.....

hi Bill, i have a neighbour with an early rotax in a homemade monocoque chassis.... he reckons the engine is bullet proof... same engine as bmw used for a while i believe.
#1 Son has a morini 3 1/2 sport .... now, with the morini the thing is to get one in good nick, or at least complete ... spares can still be got... but from italy...if everything is working ok, then the one thing you must do is change the cam belt, easy job, my son does his bi-annually ....

i've had so much fun on that little morini, such sweet handling, run rings round almost anything on twisties ...
