Excellent, well done and all that.  Hope we turn up at the same rally sometime - Skorpions are getting rarer.

Great news Richard! I am really pleased for you getting it back on the road after the unfortunate accident earlier in the year  :)

Yes they truly are rare now although you’d have thought prices would have shot up but they are still cheap when they turn up.  I’ve had my sport nine years exactly now and all that’s happened is that they’ve gone quieter on the scene and nearly disappeared totally.
I’ve also just collected a few free  Mz two strokes this last month and it’s made me think about joining the Mz riders club which I did but even on there there’s probably less than 0 .5% Skorpions on there.
Anyway rant over now!

Worth joining the MZRC even so.

I picked up a spare Skorpion a few weeks ago - a Tour to add to my Sport.

Problem is that some odd bits are getting difficult to obtain.  Silencers are the worst.

I remember you saying. Did you have the heart to break it then?

No.

I shall be keeping it whole for now on the basis they aren't making any more of them and for where I live - they make excellent real world bikes.

All the speed I need and a bit more, with excellent handling, decent brakes and a certain rarity value.

Also I may be able to persuade my other half to ride it.

An Mz Skorpion was being sold on Gumtree recently in Northern Ireland for £450. Gone now but it probably was worth a punt as it was MOT'D as I recall.

That’s cheap although you’d have to swim to get it but not sure if that applies to everyone! I’m not a gum tree lover as it’s badly laid out for finding things for me so that’s why I didn’t see it.

I`ve had a Sport and a Traveller, loved them both. Sold the Sport because the riding position didn`t suit me so bought the Traveller. Sold it to buy a Harley, big mistake  :'( :'( I`d love another …. enjoy

@manxie, what are you riding nowadays if you’ve lost your ‘love’?
I had a similar scenario.....
It was 1999 at Rufforth auto jumble York and I spotted a  ‘simple’ lightweight  yellow and very unusual pretty plain although ‘curvy’  bike but there was something about it. I couldn’t rest my mind over it. It was love at first sight!! made me think of pure bliss. I bought it the next day at another auto jumble as I had to raise the cash and find where it was on that day.
It was an experienced unusual ride I never had before. In time to come I traded it in because I got greedy in the satisfaction stakes. I thought if that handles sooooo good what will a 916 Ducati handle like as they were still newish on the scene and the talk was good about them and the exotic looks were out of this world.  I chopped it in for a Ducati 748 which bust my bank good style. That was a bad mistake, not just bad but proper I’ve fucked this one up!! I as for my old yellow sport,  I wanted it back as a second bike (no it would have been a main bike). Too late! Gone, proper gone it was. I cried. Forward eleven years and I bought the current one but in  red which I never really liked the colour of but  it’s still a keeper.........

Hi tigcraft.

I`ve always liked Harley`s for my sins, and the one I bought was too good to pass on. It was 18yrs old with only 660 miles. I was short £1200 to buy it so sold my Traveller. I hated the Harley so sold it. The Traveller was a superb bike, loved it and would have another any day. It suited my riding better than my yellow Sport (well my body actually) after about 20 miles on the Sport my arms would go to sleep and I put it down to the riding position. It too was brilliant fun and sounded awesome!

I now have a GPz750, which I can`t bond with so I may have sold it too. I have a 1980 XT250 which is being restored at the moment, and I`m so looking forward to getting that on the road. II also have a 1980 Kawasaki Z250C (single) which is the best fun ever!! 75mph with a good tail wind but will haul me along at 60mph all day. It`s tiny, and can be flicked anywhere. I pulled the GPz and the Z out last weekend to go for a little run, the GPz didn`t get a glance, the little Z all day long  ;)

I do have an MZ still but not a Skorp. It`s an ES250/2 Trophy which I need to have tested so I can re=reg it here on the Isle of Man  ;)
