This raises several interesting (maybe even important) points.
Yes, it works, and, as a concept/prototype it is well engineered.
Yes, he's right, one day we'll all be on/in electric vehicles for daily commutes/shopping trips etc
the problems arise when you want to take the family away on holiday (probably not to europe, but that's a different forum

)
in your SUV with a caravan on the back (or any similar scenario), there are no electric vehicles available now, or coming down the track that can meet those requirements.
now, if by 2030 the only vehicles we can buy will be electric powered.... A) we won't have enough capacity in the national grid to charge the bloody things up (as it is, we may well be struggling to meet current (ha ha) demands by 2025 ).... and B) unless battery technology moves forward and therefor range is extended and charge times reduced i can see huge problems with lack of charging points, for instance ..... say mr tesco provides 20 charging points at his store..... and 50% of his customers are in electric vehicles, and of those 50% say 5% want to charge up ..... and the charge takes 30 mins .... big problem!!
and of course... whilst we are all tugging our forelock to the government and dumping our ICE vehicles and buying whatever we are told to buy as a replacement......
the REAL polluters are carrying on as normal .... the LORRIES, the TRAINS, the BOATS, the PLANES the BUSES.
oh... and don't talk to me about all the blo ody cows f arting round here!!!
maybe this should be in the rant section

So, to answer you question Bill ..... yes, i'd give it a go .... but i'd bung it all into a spare srx rolling chassis i have, and maybe pretty it up a bit... get the all up weight down to a minimum, super efficient tyres etc, might get a bit more range out of it.
have a good weekend everyone
