Hmmmmmmmm, thanks Ron. A 500cc twin, that should be interesting.Personally a V would be preferable to a parallel.I still hanker after a Guzzi V50. Never did quite get one but came very close a couple of times.

Have had some experience with Guzzi V50's. Not too heavy, handle well, comfortable, fast enough for my needs and that all important classic feel. Just recently missed one for sale locally. If you get the chance to buy one, go for it, don't think you'll be disappointed.

Personally I would have loved them to have done a 500 single, it would have been an absolute hoot. Especially on those Yorkshire  dales roads😁😁👍.

I keep musing that I might become a KTMA - I am very tempted by the 390 Duke (havent had a modern bike for a while, not sure I can get back into the whole stress of depreciation and theft anxiety).

No-that is the problem with a modern. My fears too.OK if you're going to keep for a long time on the depreciation front but i do worry when i leave mine at work all day. I have 2 jobs-one in a slightly dodgy area but i can lock it in behind gates, the other in a better area where i leave it on the office car park.

Michael (Moto63)will give you the full SP on the 390. I did test ride one (they were on offer at a very good new price)and would be great if you want a very  light bike but i just felt while  it would be great as a second bike but i  might get underwhelmed in the long term so i went for a second hand 690 which is still a light bike (although nowhere near as light as the 390)and  offers quite a spirited performance.

Still awaiting my decat pipe Michael by the way.

Note to Michael (Moto63).Fitted the decat pipe to the 690 today -easy enough but fiddly-the new pipe weighs next to nothing whereas the thing i took off was surprising very heavy.I don't know what they put in the things and i know the weight is low down but what a difference. Couldn't start the thing up as the battery is flat despite being charged from time to time. Put it back on the Optimatew but expect to buying yet another battery. I must buy at least one or two every year for various bikes and cars.

Evening Martin.... clearly NOT the weather at the moment to go out for a test ride. Keep me posted of what you think when you do. Yes I think you'd be surprised at just how heavy the 390 zorst system was and that was just the link pipe and under slung can. Very heavy, especially when compared to the titanium replacement I fitted. ... cheers, Michael

Michael-managed to get the 690 fired up today and no exhaust leaks. Sounds BLOODY LOUD though so am going to investigate fitting a baffle or DB killer as they now call them for some reason. Haven't been for a ride yet as roads are covered in crap but no engine management light which is good!

Ive got a Guzzi V50.Not had it long and it needs some tidying up but it seems a nice, small, light bike.It would have been nice if the seller had told me that it wasnt charging,I suppose I really should have checked that myself.

My first 4-stroke was a Guzzi V50, bought from an electrician, which shoulda told me something!!!  Electrics generally as poor as the stereotype suggests  though nice bikes. Ernt to Spsin on it circa 1990. Part-exed it fir a T140 (!).

CX is somuch quieter and calmer by comoaridon, tho V50 cute, low and light.
