Ay up Bill.

The short answer is no. 

I think that bike looks lovely, no doubt about it. But my personal preference is for renthal ultra lows.

My new Enfield will hopefully be ready to collect on Saturday, all being well. Apart from the exhaust I'll be keeping it stock for the rest of the year. Maybe some gentle mods next year. Nothing radical. I do fancy shortening the rear mud guard and fitting a new light. That'll give me an excuse to make some ally supports. Inspiration taken from a 60's Harley sportster.  I'm expecting to keep the Enfield for a long time so once the warranty is up it'll be getting a more radical overhaul.

I'm keeping the gpz as it is proper fun to ride. My plans for that are to turn it into even more of a steampunk affair with copper pipes and some copper and brass adornments. That'll keep me occupied over the winter.

We're up your neck of the woods mid August so maybe have a chance for a meet up? I'll be on the Enfield so the pace will not be frenetic

If the old rockers came back they'd take the ****. The point is, you start with the fastest bike you can afford and make it faster. Thats a chipped CBR600 with illegal pipes and tyres not a 23HP thumper with thousands of pounds of stick on chrome from the factory.

As a "snowflake", I find myself (automatically) offended by your assessment of these fine kits. Obviously, fashion is key and should be accessible to all, whereas speeding (from cafe to cafe) is bad and the use of an unadulterated Enfield is the obvious solution here.

May I suggest Propeller that "My plans for that are to turn it into even more of a steampunk affair with copper pipes and some copper and brass adornments." involves some of Michael's "scrap", "offcuts", or call it what you will! Nothing beats a bit o' polished brass and copper (Fowler Showmans engine).

Regarding opinions, we're all entitled to one and I'm sure there's at least an element of truth in everyones view. Wouldn't do for us all to be the same.

Had news from the dealer (eddys in shipley) that the Enfield will be ready to ride away Saturday. Great news.

I trust the holiday went well?

Family are giving me a "Surprise!" on the 18th, so not sure if you'll still be about up here after that date. As for putting my physog to a name...........! 

Whilst the Enfield, I am sure is a nice bit of kit, but like you, I'm no sure if I want to own one. Expect Andrew will have it nicely run in now for the jaunt.

Evening Bill, we head up to Moffat on Friday the 17th August and return on Monday the 20th. Staying at the buccleuch arms hotel,  so if you are free (mr humphries😁👍) we will be having one of their delicious steaks/burgers on Friday/Saturday and Sunday evening along with a couple o beers 😁.
