That is freaking  awesome!  I'd love to know some more technical details. I'm  guessing a small very high pressure flash fired boiler,

May not even have a boiler. You can store steam like you would air pressure, its how the first Tube trains worked. If the aim is 30 HP for a few minutes the boiler might be in the support van.

Good point andy, I hadn't thought of that.

[anorak]Some industries where naked flames were a bad idea used fireless locos which basically were just high pressure storage vessels pumped full of steam from a steam generator far away from the danger points. [/anorak]
