Wow.... yes Steve top find, exactly the same as the one I bought new back in the day as a spotty 18 year old. Put a damn sight more than 900miles on it tho😁. Went everywhere on that bike, mine had the Honda handle bar fairing which was an option back then. Happy daze and great memories👍👍
Thanks for sharing it. Cheers, Michael

heres the issue i have with stuff like this. ok, its bloody nice, and a new 250rs isnt a thing to be sniffed at. but the seller says that its not got the keys, so doesnt run and needs a battery (and i assume the fuel system flushing out and refurbishing,)  but he still wants 2100 for it. now im not doubting that it could be worth that. but for goodness sake, do the bloody work to it so you can sell it. i see that ad as 'its low miles and nearly new, but i know that it will need a shitload of work so im pretending that all it neeeds are keys and a battery and it will be fine. i couldnt myself ask that sort of money for a bike that doesnt run, no matter how low the miles. id have to get some keys, get a battery and get it running for a buyer. at least it could be honestly sold to its new owner.

All excellent points johnr. For £100 it could be a runner with 900 miles on it! If description is true?

Nice wee bike, but I couldn't have said it better myself John. If petrol has been lying it for a while, then its a complete strip of carb and petrol tap, and tank. Plus, as you rightly say, the bike is currently a non runner. If it was fully sorted, then maybe the asking price is OK, but I still think its dear, even then  ;)

I've been having the same conversation in my head (or am I that muttering odd bloke on the bus?)

The market will decide, I guess!! Part of the joy/thrill/fear of a potential bargain when you buy a non-runner: seller hasn't got it running so can't maximise price; buyer takes a gamble they can fix it ahead of market value running.

I DO think it could be better, and more pragmatically, advertised...

tbh, i can understand the mentality of 'taking a gamblee on a non running classic' but its not a 50s triumph twin or a flat tanker, its a 70's/80's honda single and its valu isnt going to be rampeed up a great deeal by having it running. its value, as we see it is in its low mileage and good condition. now prhaps im a bit oldschool when im selling stuff. i like to think that if someone buys a bike off me that unless its a real restoration project, needing a strip and rebuild, that if it only needs little work to get it running, that i would do that little work myself, if only for the peace of mind of knowing that ive sold it running ok. to not do stuff like ceaning the fuel system out (heres hoping it was parked up with a tank of leaded fuel in it, or at least a tank of non ethanol unleaded) so its a relatively simple job. but i genuinely couldnt bring myself to sell this bike, were it mine, if there was ever any doubt about its running ability. ok, if you dont want to do the work, fair enough, sell it as a project. but 2100 for a cb250rs is good money for on of them. yeah theyre stonking bikes, but by no means are they in the sort of company that demands such inflated values for a non runner, a lovely, tidy, low miles non runner, but a non runner all the same. ok, it needs a battery, but it also needs an oil change, filters and a pair of tyres, (you arent going to ride on a set of tyres that are at least 21 years old, and if the mileage is legit, they are quite possible 37 years old, oh, and a set of keys cut to the locks, so you might have 150 quid in parts, plus the cost of fitting and fettling, assuming that theres nothing else needed for it.
im not knocking the guy if he can find someone daft enough, all im saying is that asking 2100 for a bike that needs a bit more than a battery and a tinker, is having a bit of a pisstake in my eyes. perhaps im just a little too fussy myself. perhaps there are legions of folk queueing up to buy it. but not me. prhaps its an indication of the way things are going these days.
