The eagle has flown
« on: July 02, 2017, 10:58:12 AM »
Finally the Sunbeam has moved on to its new owner.

I'm now on the (non-urgent) lookout for a late 40s early 50s Norton 500 single to relive my impecunious youth......

I hope you have forewarned your bank manager Ian! The Norton name on the tank nearly doubles the cost over an equivalent old thumper from AJS/Matchless as I'm sure you know...

Yes I do.....

I must restrain my impulses this time.

I think I was indoctrinated into the Bracebridge Street make at an early age.

Tha's a grand photo Ian, I can see the cogs whirring in the wee head!  ;)

Whilst never having owned a Norton, I do attend the local Norton Owner's meets and enjoy the craic and endless ribbing for not owning one.  :)

All the best in your quest and a solo 19S, with a little bit of tuning work, maybe from this man [Pushrod_Performance] would be very nice.  :)

My regards, Bill

There was a lovely pre-war Norton pushrod single at Cadwell on Saturday, sorry don't know the specific model . I can understand why a later one would appeal. Good luck with the search.

Interesting, thanks for that. I'm trying not to be tempted before I finish the Arrow. I'm no longer a VMCC member after about 25 years as the cost wasn't justified by what I got out of it.

There was a nice looking ES2 combination on ebay which finished unsold with a highest bid of just over £4,000.

might be a bit late for you, its a 59 es2 and he wants 5250 for it which i think is a little harsh but not a million milees off.

Thanks John.

I am (will be) looking for a rigid / plunger with either girders or teles so 1946 - 1952 - ish.

Around the £5k mark is probably realistic - if it's a 59 then it's probably a featherbed which attract higher prices.

Thanks for the the link but I'm afraid facebook is on my "ignore" list.....
