Bad news about Nicky Hayden, involved in a collision with a car, while out training on his bicycle yesterday. Extremely critical with serious cerebral damage. One of the good guys, can only hope for the best.

Aye, very sad, for a very talented and likeable racer, can only hope the medics can get him through the trauma. Read about it yesterday as it came up online. Sparing a thought for his family and friends.

Unfortunately im seeing several reports now that he has since died, one report appears to be a confirmation from his family. so whilt it may be a mistake and he is still clinging on, it appears that this is a sad day for motorcycling. he was a very gifted rider and a great personality, RIP.

Having been in a very similar situation 18months back... but luck was on my side, I feel very, very saddened by his accident and I really do hope that he pulls through and that the reports of his passing are "fake news"

Well that is good news, that it is "fake news" and yes John/Steve there are some extremely sad bar stewards if they've nothing better to do than spread crap like that around... hopefully one day they too will be in the self same position as the poor bloke. Again, fingers crossed 🤞

By John Ulrich

My friend Earl Hayden is facing his own medical issues at home in Kentucky and is unable to travel while his son, 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden, lies in a hospital in Italy, mother Rose Hayden and brother Tommy Hayden at his side.

I spoke to Earl this morning, and adding to the family's pain has been a cascade of FAKE NEWS posted all over the internet, including by alleged professional news organizations that should know better.

Earl told me the following:

The family HAS NOT issued a statement that Nicky is dead.

Nicky IS NOT dead, although he is on life support.

Nicky was riding his bicycle alone, NOT in a group of 14 riders.

Doctors DID NOT perform surgery on Nicky.

Nicky WAS NEVER in an induced coma.

Yes, people want to know what is happening with Nicky, a great motorcycle racer, person and humanitarian. But making things up or failing to do even the most basic due diligence or fact checking, and posting FAKE NEWS for commercial purposes?

Have the guilty news organizations even considered the effect their FAKE NEWS has on the family and friends and true fans of Nicky and his family?

To paraphrase a famous quote from the 1950s related to manufactured facts, "Have you no shame?"

Yep, there really are some sicko's out there and I can't help but think that social media encourages them - they get an audience without anybody checking the validity of their 'news'.

It must be heartbreaking for Nicky's family, as if they haven't got enough to cope with.  >:(

Unfortunately it is now true. He passed away this afternoon apparently.  From several decent sources.

A tragedy. Seemed a really decent bloke and a damned good rider.
