Not a model I know well, and I've not seen one for sale for ages, I's not pay more than £1000 tops even for a nice one, but then I am notable mean. I believe it has only 6v electrics and they're a bit weak even for those, hopefully others here have more experience of the model than I and can be rather less vague than I have to be.

I would echo what hondapartsman said and not pay more than a grand for a runner , did have a quick look and a couple were for sale last year that had been renovated and they were asking 2 to 2.5 wether they sold at that I do not know? If your after a trail bike you can't go far wrong with a dr350 which the sp morphed into.
All the best Mark

I gave 6 bottles of wine and a bacon bap for my 370, which was a total resto job but I did get it running .... sold it for £400 which was too cheap IMHO. I`ve seen resto jobs for about 1k and restored bikes (not quite original spec`d) for 3500 .... to dear I think  ??? After saying this, look at the prices of XT500`s these days  ??? ???

XT500's though seem to have become something of a cult bike these days, although it looks lke XL500s are getting more popular too, one of my colleagues got one recently, the Rc which is the last before the radial heads came in. I don't think SP's are likely to be as popular, but you never know, anyone asking over £1000 for one is going to be lucky to get that but it is fun watching on e bay how much some people think things are worth. Once in a while I do get surprised though, although quite often also I see them readvertised, sometimes cheaper with some mention of timewasters.

Theres a scruffy bitsa 370 on Ebay at £600 but I think he'll be lucky to get bids at that price. £1000 ish is probably realistic for a nice one though good original DR400's go for more.

I had a 370, sweet engine and handling but the 6V electrics were a pain and the headlamp was a joke ( though not quite as bad as the GN250's). Originals were Red or Silver as I recall. They later upped the capacity to 400cc ( same as the DR) but the engine never felt as nice. I think the SP400's also came in blue.

the scruffy  one on ebay starting at £600 is the one i am talking about, it`s at £800 ono on gumtree, he asked if i wanted a swap for one of my gn`s,  it looks like my kind of bike though, better look than a standard one with the wrong tank/seat,  so if it doesn`t sell i will have a look at it and if it`s mostly ok i will consider it, it`s only 5 miles away,
thanks for comments

I had an SP400 which I liked a lot - much more than the XT500 which replaced it when the Suzuki was stolen. The SP has a lovely narrow tank ideal for body-leaning etc. And it didn't die on me at traffic lights like the Yam did.
