Help I need a camshaft

I have spent the last 12 months looking for a standard xbr500 camshaft. Saw one for sale on ebay and bought it, It arrived today but its not an xbr item.
My bike is finished except for a camshaft, Im completely screwed and wont be on the road this year at this rate. Has anyone got one knocking around anywhere

Push comes to shove, I'll buy that hot cam you had advertised and send you mine, but I'm not that confident about getting the install right, as I only once removed one on a GT750 four-stroke and that was so long ago, I can't remember how it went! I probably had help

Its very easy to change a cam, put engine at top dead center, remove the rocker cover, remove the cam chain tensioner, remove 1st cam bolt, rotate the engine 180 degrees to tdc again undo 2nd cam bolt remove the 2 bearings withdraw camshaft

Michael, I swear I can hear my bike breathing a sigh of relief!

Having said that, I did find a YouTube video on what appears to be a neat little trick for installing the cam chain tensioner which was the bit I wasn't sure about, given that the manual shows use of a special tool;

I'm proper pleased for you, Joolz. You must have been so gutted when that brand new one from Germany turned out to be wrong, having been on the lookout for a year?

I was looking for a cam a while ago,without any joy.I thought I would have to put the XR650 rocker box and cam on.Then I saw an XR500 cam in the US.It fitted perfectly,identical to the XBR cam.

There were a few different XBR cams over the years, I forget the differences, the part number with MN9 though is for an NX650 though, the Dominator although it's possible they might have used it on later XBRs. Anyway sounds like your problem is solved and proves it seems what a good bunch or regulars seem to be on this forum. I'm pleased I found you all.
