xl600, picking your thoughts

ive spotted an 84 yam xl 600 with the big tank. bike and motor has been rebuilt. your thoughts please on the engine. would it be ok for touring?

yam is an xt, honda is an xl, both have great engines with dakar rally winning pedigrees.

you only need to look at their record in competition to see how reliable these engines are, i wouldnt think that they would be phased by touring, folks have actually circumnavigated the globe on these bikes many times.

my engine is now in the process of being stripped. bottom end defo goosed. will also get to the bottom of the tight belt issue ive had which probably caused the failure.
