Sorry to hear this. How's it looking claim-wise on the insurance?

Aye Ian,

Very sorry to read this news that is hellish!  :(

I hope that you have a positive result either from the boys in blue and or the insurance; fingers crossed.

If I were to come sarf it would appear that a deterent would be necessary! Separate thread started!

My regards, Bill

THank you all for your comments. Long story about the claim which I will post when it is more progressed.

Apparently the reserve have had a couple of bikes nicked recently so it would appear they are being targeted by a gang. A bloody nature reserve! Where is safe these days?

Hi Ian, Sorry to hear about your bike being taken. After a theft of one of my bikes last year, I can fully appreciate the wide range of emotions you will be going through... I certainly hope it is recovered, or that the law catches up with those responsible... I'm certain that in the great scheme of things, there will come a day when you will permit yourself a little smile when you look back on this event ... I did recently, when I learned that the prime suspect for the taking of my pride and joy was paying the price for his chosen way of life... He was of an age where he was locked up in a "big boys" prison ... Here's hoping , Regards, Tony

Sorry to hear that mate, hope they get the bastards!! >:(

If the cops don't come up with anything I'd have a look at Newark Autojumble ...I've seen one or two iffy 'project frames' with the serial numbers conveniently damaged there.

Bad news.

Could be worth calling Motorworks. They are 100% legit, but you never know who the scumbags will try and sell to.

Thats a b@stard Ian, I hope they get the scumbags.

I've probably told this story on here before. I know somebody who had a Buell knicked. After a couple of days, they spotted some low life's on the bike wheelying and doing loads of daft stuff and managed to follow the back to a local house. They informed the police who raided the place and found about half a dozen stolen bikes in the garage. The Buell was returned but unbelievably the police did not prosecute. If your bike gets knocked you really are o  your own I'm afraid. Makes you wonder what you pay taxes for.  >:(

i can echo this experience. back in the 1990s a mate had his gsx600f nicked, he was a mag member and we put out the posters offering a reward and kept chasing plod, but nothing happened and the trail went cold. then one night i was driving home and outside a shop in preston was parked a familiar looking bike, gsx600f, nexxus exhaust, screwdrivered ignition, number plate made from them stick on letters they sell in diy shops, it set all my bells ringing so i called the owner, (pre mobile days would you believe) and he came out, but it had gone. a look round the back and there it was in the guys yard, he came out and was trying to distance himself from it. i spotted pc plod in a van driving up the road and flagged them down. bingo, it was the nicked bike, it was in his yard, he admitted that he had been using it every day since he got it (but stopped short of saying he nicked it) his prints were all over it, he had no licence, no insurance, the reg number he was using was from a scooter (not his, he just spotted a scooter and wrote the number down then made himself a plate, (remember this was pre anpr days) and pc plod turned out to be a guy i went to school with, so he told me the guy was a petty criminal with a long list of previous including several of nicking bikes. he admitted all this to plod in an interview, so we waited to see what would happen. 3 months later my mate got a letter saying that the cps werent proceding with a prossecution due to a lack of evidence. yes you read that right, a lack of evidence, even though he actually admitted that he had been using it and he knew it was stolen and he had previous form for similar. i was left wondering at the time, just how much evidence would they need if what they had wasnt enough?

Apart from an accident, this is the worst news any biker can get. It makes me so b**** angy! I am totally fed up with some of the scum we have to share this country/planet with! I realm hope you get it back. If your on social media at all spread the details everywhere, as the more who know in your area, the better the chance, as happened to a local lad here a while back.

Thanks Timbo.

Johnr I think you make a good point, something has gone wrong with prosecutions of thieves. Back in the 80s I worked in a project with hardcore young thieving bastards. We didn't try to understand them or make excuses for them we took them out to do proper hard work and told them that being thieving scumbags was unacceptable (only using much stronger language). We never had a shortage of lads and we only worked on one estate, all of them with previous prosecutions. We were successful, loads of the lads cleaned up their acts.

Now they get a 12 year old social worker, an ASBO badge of honour and a free holiday to make up for their bad childhood. Makes my blood boil!

My guess is that once those that make a living by understanding them got to run things, it all went downhill, from where, sadly, I see no chance of returning.
