Installed Amazon cheapie heated grips today, courtesy of YouTube instructional video for additional fuse and relay;

Only hiccup was my splicing the switched live to the rear brake light, which would have made getting warm hands a bit interesting! 😱 Throttle tube plastic cable guide needed shaving at its end on diameter and thickness where it enters the switchgear housing.

And then, like finding a forgotten £25 in a coat pocket, I lifted my 4 year old lid out if it's box, looking for a missing thermal glove and found the free pinlock visor the lid came with!

I've got a 220 mile round trip coming up on the 18th, so how handy is that?!

Good job with the grips Mat. Get a pair of muffs for over them, and you'll be well toasty. Certainly saved my bacon last weekend, when the only warm part of me, was my hands  :-\

Thanks. Apparently, if I spend even one more penny on bike stuff before Xmas, I won't have any balls left to worry about freezing off!😵

Out for a canter on Sally today, afore the rain and then the ice returns over Hogmanay!  ;)

The centre of the roads are slick with rubber, oil, salt slime and a generous dose of farm vehicle effluent in 3 counties of Scotland, Angus, Perthshire and Fife. However, went out through the Ochils afore a refuel in Cupar and quick visit to St. Andrews west beach, a stop at the Tay Bridge kiosk for a black pudding roll & mustard, with a Bovril; over the bridge to Dundee, 30mph speed limit due to the force 6 - 7 wind, gusting gale 8, where the new Tate Modern is rising from the old swimming pool complex next door to the 'Discovery'. A canter along the byeways of the Ca rse (its that PC thing ::) ) of Gowrie, afore a detour into the Sidlaw Hills and then home via another string of back-roads north and west of Perth. About 90 miles and only the white-finger to trouble me, temperature stayed above 12°C, so no need for the thermals etc. The wind is steadily rising, but nothing too dodgy, just watch out at gateways etc!

Got home and Sally was manky, so out with the Jizer, whilst everything was fresh, a quick scrub with the dish brush and then a hose down with the garden hose. The old bike looked quite the thing, so gave it a blow-dry with the leaf blower and left it running for a wee while afore putting in the workshop with a door open. Oil change now due, plus I may have to sort the oil leak from the cylinder head. We'll see.

Now as black as the Earl of Hell's waistcoat, but still warm. Good health to all for 2017 and keep doing what ever karma gives you a  ;D  !  ;)

Slainte, Bill

Similar in Yorkshire, micro-climates lurking here and there, cloud low enough to be fog one minute, the sun so low you can't see the next.

Still, 90 miles before the bacon butty wasn't bad, Woodhead, Holme Moss then the longer way home.

All the best for 2017 and enjoy your extra second in 2016!

Andy

Snow on the ground, and freezing outside. Out in  the shed, with the waste oil burner going, I had to work in temperatures as low as +20c  ;)

Got back to doing the front end on my `trail` gn,bil made new spindle to suit TS front wheel and brake, removed disc brake and all the gubbins that goes with it and fitted a new (£1.00 from autojumble) brake lever and cable, all appears ok, made up a torque arm that fastens to mudguard mount, fitted old honda front mudguard that surprisingly looks ok with 21" wheel, took angle grinder to exhaust and almost got tiger cub silencer fastened on but got too dark and wet,   a good day bodging !  photo soon....

it`s going to be renamed a bigellie 250 to confuse the old folks in local vmcc section, all badges to be removed and writing on cases will be filled in,    bigellie is an anagram.....
