Detctive work needed please ... 2015 Cymdu show
« on: April 02, 2016, 10:43:28 AM »
Hi everyone, I had a BT voicemail contact earlier this week... It was one of those occasions when pen or paper wasn't to hand... A computer generated female voice started with "Hi Tony...." but then one of BT's "glitches" or "bugs" rendered the message very nearly unfathomable... From the snippets of coherent words I actually managed to hear with any degree of clarity, I made out "Hi Tony"..."show last year"... "are you still thi....g" of ....lling" little Ho..a CL400"  and the name at the end was "Baz"  or "Gaz"... Since then I have been racking my brains... and, what is left of my memory... and would like to contact this guy... That is IF anyone on here who was at Cymdu last September can help me make contact with "Baz or Gaz"... He was on a Moto Guzzi V7 Racer ( single seater ), parked next to me when all the bikes were displayed.... He gave me his card ( which I duly lost ), and as I wrote earlier, he may be called Baz or Gaz... I seem to recall his card stated he is a lecturer in further education, or something of that nature... possibly in the Bath / Bristol area..?  If anybody has any leads, please message me on here... I really would like to be in contact with this gent.. Regards, Tony

No leads but that sounds like someone leaving a text on a landline (why people do this escapes me). Do you not have a phone that shows recent calls so you could ring him back? Although thinking about it that probably wouldn't work.

A quick google shows up this:

If you have been sent a text message on your landline phone, you can replay the message and check who sent it by dialling 0845 602 1111.

When you dial this number, a recorded message says:

"Welcome to the SMS Text Store from BT. You have 1 saved voice text. 1st saved message. Message from [phone number of sender]. To listen to the message, press 1. To save the message, press 2".

If you press 1, the service will read the message and tell you what time it was sent. To listen to the message again (including the phone number of the sender) press 1.

The service reads you the phone number of the sender. If you don't recognise the number of the sender, try calling the number and see who answers.

Thanks for all that info Ian... I did say that the majority of the message was unintelligible, full of stutters and glitches... ( and, no it wasn't on April fool's day )... I shall give it another day or two to see if he tries to ring again... One further thought has occurred to me, He could possibly be traced via the Moto Guzzi Club forum... Even if he is not a member, one or two members might know of him... Might just be worth a try..?  Regards, Tony

Thanks for that Steve... I've just had a quick look... Not him I'm afraid... I have also gone down the route that Ian suggested... No joy there I'm afraid either... I shall make a call to the main-man of the Guzzi Club Bristol and Bath branch sometime tomorrow... Here's hoping... Tony...

I'll ask Pete Bond (Cwmdu organiser) he invites most people.

Thanks Mark, ...... Still no luck, but guess what....? After turning my drawers inside out and upside down.... you'll never guess what I found...!!!! Yes, that's right...... The card for the Guzzi owner at said show.... The name is different, and he comes from a completely different part of the country...!!! Boy, when I get things wrong, I excel at it..!! Thank you all very much if you have been racking your brains as well... I think it is time to bring this thread to an official end... He can always ring back ... Tony
