MAG Farmyard Party
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:02:06 PM »
Hi All, just booked tickets for myself, Ali, Tony, Geordie, and Karen. 19-21June, Duncombe Park, Helmsley, North Yorks. We used to go to this every year, pre the great flood, and then have been once since they moved it out of the valley. Although its an approx 5000 peeps rally, it was always very friendly, loads of interesting bikes, and used to be our annual Yorkshire pilgrimage  :)
Thurs 18th well be stopping over at Dent, then on Sunday night at Masons campsite, Appletreewick.
So if any fellow thumpeteers want to meet up, let us know. Though I'm probably going on a Honda twin, so under Thumper Club rules, you mightn't be allowed to talk to me  ;)

Do Masons allow bikes? Is that the one nearly opposite the pub?
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

Masons is totally bike friendly, and will take groups of bikes. Its just idiots they don't want, so that's us out then  :-\
Its a bit pricier than other places, but great site, by the river with good clean facilities, which, after a weekend at the Farmyard, I thought my companions might appreciate. As for me, I don't care, cause I never wash anyway  ;)

So definitely staying at the old Thumper Club favourite of Condor Farm, Dent on Thursday, then a nice meander through the dales on Friday to Farmyard Party. Probably take a ride through Howardian Hills and Yorkshire Wolds on Saturday, and I see theres racing on at Olivers Mount on sunday  ;)

Back last night from a fantastic weekend at the Farmyard Party. Really friendly and well run, and next year is the 30th, and we definitely plan to head back. Nine of us in total, camped at Dent on the thursday, including SteveD and Tony from Preston who just came up for the night. Sunday night we stayed at the Todhunters farm behind the Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket, another great spot. I would also like to thank John and Donna from Harrogate, who kindly offered to lend us a spare XBR petrol tank, as Alis tank was leaking all wknd  :-\

Nice looking bike John  8)
No wonder Alisons tank leaked, you should have seen it when it was stripped back to bare metal. Ive never seen anything with so many previous bodged up repairs. Very nasty. Its now gone to one of the guys on this forum, in Lancashire, to hack about for a project of is own.
Great meeting you and Donna, and we'll see you again for definite  :)

Tis indeed very nasty Tim, I too av never seen a tank with so many previous bodges. However it shall rise again from the ashes like a Phoenix, de seamed and with new (different) filler cap. Just don,t ask me to put a completion date on said project tank. Now where did I put that tig welder
