'80 Suzuki SP370 kickstart stop ?

Just noticed that sometimes when I kick the bike over the kickstart moves round as far as getting stuck on the footpeg mounting bolt and I have to unhook it with my foot
Surely this shouldn't be right ?
Any ideas ?
