Tips on xbr500 battery fit under seat.

Hi all.
looking for tips on using the battery savers and mounting and diagrams on wiring in under the seat.
standard gauges and ignition.
would like to remove all unnecessary wiring and most likely the electric start.
may convert to a single gauge but any info appreciated.

Yer thats sort of where I want to go. That looks like a tight fit. Does that fit under the rear top flat cross member on  the frame or just in front?
A bike project a while back posted by Carbonmoto, got me intrigued as to how much wieght you could actually lose in the battery and wiring. Hence why I may convert to a single gauge.
I'm doing some more searching about how small a battery you can have without frying it.
My laymans take on it all is a bit nieve.

I made up 2 L shaped brackets for the battery to sit on and it locates between them and the rear flat cross member that holds the seat lock. The battery I use is a motobatt gell type MBUX4U

I run a "super b 2600" lithium ion battery on my xbr cafe racer, it,s a totally sealed unit with no acid used. This means you can place the unit in virtually any position you like, the weight saving is incredible as is the size saving.  Weight: 475 grams. Size W/H/D. 114mm  81mm. 35mm.  Down side is you need to buy a specific charger for the unit.  Regards moto63

you can get some really trick hi tec batteries for bikes now, some of the lithium types and the dry cell ones weigh a fraction of the weight of the original battery and are much smaller, so you could retain the wiring and starter whilst losing the weight of the battery!

I dont trust lithium battery's, I have seen many catch fire and even explode. They are getting better but its very early days still

The super b looks interesting. Doing a bit more research on the whole wiring set up.
Not sure I'll have the room for that set up Joolz. Hoping to change the tail section to a permanent single seat with a sporty type rack for a gear sack. Might have to strip it all and play around a bit with a few bits of aluminum and a mock up box of the size battery I choose.
Think I'll be visiting the battery shop for some advise on what's available here.
Wondering if there's a possibility to fit a resistor in the system to lose some energy in the form of heat and lessen the size battery. Talking to a mate who's an auto sparky tonight on the whole deal.
