Wasps? Don't you just love 'em

I decided it was too hot for the full-face lid, so on went the Arai open face. So there was I, riding the country lanes on the XBR, and a wasp flies straight between my cheek and the helmet padding. I now have a swollen right cheek and a swollen right ear lobe. Yep, the damn thing stung me twice before I could get the helmet off, and to make matters worse, it escaped before I could squash it.
Full-face every time now, as this is the 3rd time this has happened to me. The joys of riding in the sun!
Kelly.

That only works if you keep the visor shut. I recall getting stung on the neck right by the strap, I was just going past Hampton Court. That sting really irritated as I was working as a DR then and the strap continually rubbed on it.
A week later, same spot, I got stung again in the same place.

Been there, done that, managed to get the helmet off!!......you'd be amazed how quickly you can stop a Lambretta scooter and unstrap a helmet when you need too!!

Apparently Wasps are scarce this year...seems the Queens all came out out during a brief warm spell in February and all died when it got cold again.

Has anyone else noticed that Wasps are attracted to the smell of petrol? Often when I've been working on carbs outside they come round like a magnet.

A real shame but what has that got to do with the wasps.

I'm not coming out as a queen and I'm not wearing an open face helmet ever again. Last year I went down the road on my ER5 after hitting gravel and every time I look at the mess at the front of the full face Caberg I was wearing I am reminded that could have been my face!

It doesn't bother me too much as my face already looks like it has been skiing on tarmac!

Funny thing perspective... I won't wear a full face as I can't stand the sensation of looking through a letter box. Reckon the loss of peripheral vision is really dangerous. Heyho, each to his own.

Once got hit in the neck by a sparrow... Visor full of feathers doesn't improve your vision and a swelling of the larynx don't help breathing either. :(

I don't wear a full face because you need a crumple zone.

I think I must be Pat's evil twin  :o Same experience, same feeling of wearing a letterbox.

I am now up to an "Adventure" lid (that's a MX helmet with a visor to the non-Charlies). Still curse the thing in fog and revert to the open face at the first excuse.
