WANTED: SRX600 FOR TEST
« on: November 21, 2012, 05:05:08 PM »
Hi, this is Jim Moore, editor of Practical Sportsbikes magazine. We're looking for a tidy, standard(ish) SRX Yam that we can test against an XBR500 for our forthcoming issue. we can collect/deliver the bike back, and bring the owner (should they wish) to the test location near Peterborough, and the bike will be covered by our insurance at all times. It's just a road test – no speed testing or track nonsense – in the hands of experienced road testers. if you'd like to see your bike in lights – well, a mag at least – please drop me a line at jim.moore@bauermedia.co.uk or 01733 468192.

Many thanks

Jim

I trust 'The Venerable 1' showed impeccable manners, as would her owner?

I just hope these nice bits of kit don't become too "fashionable"!

Good health Steve.

Regards, Bill.

Just managed to get a copy of Practical Sportsbike (Feb Issue) and read the said article.

"The boy done good and the bike did even better!!!

As Bill said...lets hope the said bikes dont become "too fashionable"

Ian :)

PS .....there is an article (Project Hunter) further into the magazine showing various bikes that are "suitable for restoration" . One being an SRX-6 which was sold minus engine and various other vital organs for £255!   OMG  they do seem to be getting rather fashionable! :(

Bike looked good steve.  Very respectable.  You appear to be joining the polishers brigade!  Rear brake master, you tart!   ::)

I don't normally purchase motorcycling literature, but it was near the porno mags and caught my eye....   ;D

Ahh...got my free copy and dvd of photo shoot... yes, quietly pleased with it .....

amazing what a good photo with the right lighting can do....'cos Jim rang me on the Wednesday morning saying he'd like to pick the bike up that evening!.... no time for any cleaning/polishing.... and they didn't do any before the test on the Thursday (the last fine day of 2012)...

couple of factual errors i spotted... they state that there is one removable downtube to facilitate engine removal, whereas we all know that both are removeable. and although the standard bhp is 42...  i have the dyno reading here that shows 50bhp at the back wheel when it was tested in march last year.

yes Andy..see what you mean about the rear m/cycinder.... but honest injun... it's never been polished (unlike the calipers.... which i carefully sprayed in gold then faced off on crocus paper and brasso... what a sad bu55er i am)

pip pip...

Looks like these bikes are becoming more collectable, a very tidy, mostly (but not entirely) original XBR just went on Ebay for £1850!......seller had reduced the reserve!!   And there are 2 other being sold through a dealer at over £2.5k!!!
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional!

Hi, i have seen that xbr when i got something from the seller, apart from the two little dents in the tank it is spot on,very well looked after with wire wheels, a credit to the owner, need to get on with my restoration
