Starting Royal Enfield 500 Bullets
« on: August 18, 2012, 02:47:46 PM »
For those of you who didn't make it to the Irish Rally, and also those that did, I had a bit of bother starting the bike on a few occasions, especially when there was an audience!
I have now discovered the secret technique. Leave the bike sitting for three weeks, totally unwashed and neglected, and needing a service. Then let your girlfriend, (Alison), start it first kick!!! >:(

Oh yea, and my kickstart leaver fell off on the way home from the rally in the torrential rain! :'(

However a new one from Hitchcocks was £28 plus vat, :)

To be fair, it's not like you needed it.
May as well save weight. Makes it easier to push

The saga continues. Had a lovely evening run on the Enfield tonight. Got home, opened gate, bike cut out. wouldn't restart. Kicked and kicked and kicked.
Alison appears from behind a bush, "There's a very strong smell of petrol. Have you knocked your choke on by accident?"
Switched off choke, started first time. Grrrrrr! :-\

Having had 2 Enfields I totally agree.
Its a Girls bike so give it to Alison.  At least she has an idea how to start it !
