Beaulieu custom car and bike show
« on: June 19, 2012, 04:58:06 PM »
We thought we would have a ride out on Sunday, as the weather was so good. Our destination was the motor museum to see the custom bike and car show. We left home at 10am and we were on our way, 10 minutes later we were stopped on the A35 by the police due to a serious head on collision, I took an alternative route through the forest and we eventually arrived at Beaulieu. we sailed past the lines of cars waiting to get in and approached a Marshall to find out where to park and pay. The Marshall said to me you can enter your bike in the show if you want, I was chuffed :) Suzanne was pleased as well as it allowed us to get in for half price. We spent most of the day there, then decided to slowly make our way home, via Christchurch quay. The bike performed perfectly, it has huge amounts of bottom end grunt now, and I found the front wheel pattering and skipping as I accelerate, it will even lift the front end at just 1800 rpm in first with a sniff of throttle (14 tooth front sprocket) and seems quite happy running at tick over, 1300 rpm in 2nd and even 3rd !! although I am still being careful with it as Im running it in

All sounds good. It's nice to hear a story about someone being happy with their bike instead of worrying about gear whine, erratic tickover, clicking valves, etc.  ;)

I'm happy with mine - mind you, it is only 8 months old!  ;D

Well I did spend the last 5 months completely rebuilding the engine, I had some of the same problems as you have. Oh and I still spend time worrying about it, did I seat the bearings correctly, is the oil seal fitted properly did I make some other mistake when reassembling the engine, will it suddenly seize up. I have been riding with my hand covering the clutch leaver just in case. When I get to 500 miles I will start to relax a bit more :)
