I dont know if this is good news or not but decide for yourselves. Im sure there will be some debate and difference of opinion surrounding it.

Not sure if that's a good thing or not; some of these old vehicles had pretty ropey mechanics even when new. If there is not a legal obligation to have even minimum care/repair then a lot of the time it's not going to happen - except at the more rarified end of the market (thinking shiney GoldStars, Vincents etc.). No doubt the tabloids will have a field day when the first prol. pre-1960 Morris/Triumph/Jaguar/Norton et al crashes into the school/hospital/bus queue due to faulty brakes or a wheel coming off!

Saw the article earlier and thought   ??? :-\ :(

I suspect that in order for the insurance companies to provide the necessary cover, the owner will have to provide evidence of roadworthiness, i.e. the voluntary presentation of the vehicle for MoT testing and receipt of the appropriate 'print out' from the inspector.

Of course you will have noted that 'certificates' are no longer issued due to fraud, counterfeit and putting the cost of paper and printing onto the tester rather than HMG!  :o Chancers!

Nothing antique enough in the stable these days, anyway!  :'(

All the best, Bill.
