Simon Morgan's new outfit
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:11:28 PM »
Simon came and picked up his new outfit today (just like when Smudge picked up his sidecar... aaaah, memories ;)).

SMUDGE'S SIDECAR 2006 (what ever happened to that?)

Anyway, back to Simon's bike:
The build had a massive kick in the teeth when the fabricator decided to take nearly two weeks off before christmas without telling anyone first. However, all parts arrived back and looking lovely and even better they all worked the way I'd hoped when I'd specced them.

Simon's first ride was very tentative but you could see that he will be fine. If it had been any other rider I would have insisted on some more practice before he set off for home. However I've ridden and driven with Simon for years and I know he's got a good natural touch and bags of common sense. He reported back a few hours later and I got a feeling that he has already discovered some of the pleasures of charioteering.

There are some pictures of the build and finished chair in an album on my Facebook page HERE. It's open for all to view. Btw, the other photo albums include some howlers such as me with a desperately sad Bowie 'Ziggy' haircut... enjoy ;)

Cheers

No, it isn´t open for all to view.  And since I´m over 14, I´m not gonna register.  :o Why don´t you show some pics here?

Sorry I should have clarified, open to all FB users (and there are a surprising number of Thumper Clubbers on my Facebook friends list)

I just thought I'd save the grief of uploading them twice in one night  ;)

(Edited) I've added a link to more pics in a later post, see below

If it´s too much work for you to link them, that´s OK. I´ll see it next Sunday IRL anyway. And then I will probably upload some pics of the interesting parts, that cannot be seen now.

I don't really have any detailed pictures of the build and the fittings etc. All I've got working at the moment is a crappy phone camera. The better quality picture of the bike is from my brother's phone, but he only took a couple of shots.

Given the high level of engineering in your rig, the thought of you passing an eye over my work is slightly terrifying.  :o

I hope it passes the test  ;)

On which subject is anybody able to point to a reasonably priced method of getting it to West Wales ?  Other than riding it.

My brother has a snazzy double bike trailer, I could measure that up and see it a rig would fit. I'm sure he's open to discussions to use it. The cost then would depend on how economical a vehicle you could use to tow it.

Part of the problem is the sparsity of time off.  Whenever I de get a weekend I use it to see my daughters.  What I need is a cheap bike transport business or somebody going that way who wants to make a few more bob.

The pain of shift work.

What condition is it in? Is it all taxed, MOT'd and sorted?

None of the above.  Just awaiting collection and sorting.  Could be a weekend Thumper Club meet project !  Hope so as I have no idea what I'm doing otherwise.
