Yup, I've had to dig holes on Salisbury plain in the past, you can keep flint! Even people who dig holes for a living had bleeding hands by the time we were done  :o
Budget means pressure treated cr*pwood this time, but at least put in properly I should get a few years out of them before a re-run.

In happier news, I disconnected my slave cylinder from the bellhousing on my Landy and the clutch is still rock solid, which means the siezed part is the (£8ish, easy to swap) slave cylinder  8) ;D ;D ;D

Next is to restore the brakes to doing something, feed it some fresh petrol and see if I can get some life from her  :)

Aye Smudge,

Positive stuff, pleased you have progress. I've not had a chance to worry the LR oracle!

My regards, Bill.

Yet more positive news, we had vroom vroom noises in the garage tonight  8) (and not just from me  ;) ).
Tonights lesson however: if you gravity feed fresh petrol to the carb from a fuel can on the wing top, remember to cap the pipe from the fuel pump....

At least I know the pump works now  :-[ ::) no harm done, and it's less knackered fuel to drain out of the system I suppose  ;)

A reasonable imitation of what I said to myself when I realised! Fortunately the petrol was old enough you could probably fight fires with it!
(why does modern petrol go crap after a week or two anyway? The old stuff was useable for years!

If you hire a post hole screw it only removes the soil needed and leaves all surrounding soil solid and firm. It also only leave a small gap to fill with cement so that becomes easier and uses less.
