Watched Anthony Hopkins memorable portrayal (IMHO) of Burt Munro in the Worlds Fastest Indian today....still get a bit lump in my throat watching this film.....

Ian :)

(Was anyone else touched by it,  or am I getting soft in my old age?)

If you ride an Indian you too sure get some lumps but not in the throat, or may be yes when you have to pay for original parts (speedo and drive 2000 dollars)

Fantastic film, some think it to be one of Anthony Hopkins best performances. Also according to Bert Munro's family a pretty accurate record of what happened - unusually for Hollywood.   The thing I find most amazing along with the story is that his records still stand for streamlined, under 1000cc naturally aspirated motor cycles..an amazing bloke.

Lovely, but I can't see how it's so expensive.  :P

Good film, though Hopkins accent is a bit odd.
Note to Self: Shiney side goes UP.

I have to say that I also thought it was one of Hopkins' best performances. I suspect he enjoyed being able to let out the 'boyo' in him for a change.

I thought it was nice that s/he was just treated like another character and not with the "ha-ha look at the freak" approach so beloved of hollywood/the media.
Who knows, maybe in the future they'll protray "bikers" as normal people with normal lives..?
 ;)

The TT film 'Closer to the Edge' is worth watching for the bit when Guy Martin is being his usual self but under the influence of morphine. He's a laff eh?
