He is Spanish..need I say more.

As if having Pedro Almodóvar wasn't enough for 'em  ;)

btw, I've got a new word for the English language: Shawshanked
Meaning: To start watching a long film on late night telly and being unable to stop watching it even though it's way past your bed time and you've got an early start. As in "Oh, I think I'll watch the first half hour of Shawshank Redemption before coming up to bed"

I've yet to find a word for films that you can watch again and again. Films like (for me): Dambusters, Amelie, Juno, The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, A Matter of Life and Death, The Great Escape, Shawshank Redemption, It's a Wonderful Life, Blues Brothers, Blade Runner, On Any Sunday, Grosse Pointe Blank.

Some films are far better with subtitles, eg Das Boot (The proper full 2 disc mini series), although the dubbing was done by the actors, the English language version loses an awful lot of the impact.

It just wouldn't be a decent war film without Germans shouting "Achtung", "Schnell" And "Dummkopf"  ;)

Perhaps we could collaborate on a new novel called "the girl with the dragon rally tattoo"?

Any thoughts on storyline?

I suggest we each write a short papragraph and then pass it onto the next contributor to add theirs.  Let me begin.

"Patricia was surprised to find her beard on fire."

Cut, paste and add.

"Patricia was surprised to find her beard on fire."
"Maybe the camp stove was moved a little too higher."

"Patricia was surprised to find her beard on fire."
"Maybe the camp stove was moved a little too higher."
"Maybe not, it was her lower beard, her burning bush"

"Maybe the camp stove was moved a little too higher."
"Maybe not, it was her lower beard, her burning bush"
"She therefore stepped backwards and was surprised to find that another petrol stove had failed, flaring its flame upwards.  "How I wish I had simply bought a nice and sensible meths stove" she thought to herself.
She knew that it all went back to that terrible night in Llanthony."

Chapter 2 ;-)
"She shuddered as the memories flooded back, the mud, the rain, the smell of damp waxed cotton and that strange, pungent smell that seemed to linger in the area of the old bloke with the weird sidecar outfit."

This is all fairly undechipherable to me, I'm guessing it has something to do with Llanthony but other than that it as all the hallmarks of an in-joke. Anyway I'm happy to join in:

"Patricia was surprised to find her beard on fire."
"Maybe the camp stove was moved a little too higher."
"Maybe not, it was her lower beard, her burning bush"
"She therefore stepped backwards and was surprised to find that another petrol stove had failed, flaring its flame upwards.  "How I wish I had simply bought a nice and sensible meths stove" she thought to herself.

Chapter 2 ;-)
She shuddered as the memories flooded back, the mud, the rain, the smell of damp waxed cotton and that strange, pungent smell that seemed to linger in the area of the old bloke with the weird sidecar outfit.
But what scared her the most was the realisation that she was also excited, her breathing quickened and she felt far too hot despite being almost naked under the too-tight black PVC Belstaff riding coat. She knew now that for all the horror of their previous meeting she had ever since nursed the dark secret that she craved his treatment, his smell, the hot sweet scent of Fishermans Friends and the dancing tingle of his beard on her bare neck...

I can go on like this for hours, but it's your turn now  ;D

Never been to Llanthony either so any in joke there is lost on me, I shall continue to watch/read in the same way one feels obliged to watch a developing traffic accident on youtube...  ;)
