XBR Silencer
« on: September 27, 2011, 04:45:17 PM »
Hi, new here and new to the single cylinder machine....just bought an XBR500 and would like to change the exhaust back to the original twins eventually, currently fited with a micron 2-1. Had a quote for the downpipes and norton commando peashooters were suggested to go on....but wondered if anyone could give me any more suggestions just out of curiosity...not looking for anything overly loud....just a good thumper sound. Cheers, Dave.

OS pipes do the downpipes but they'll cost you about £200, and then you can fit a variety of silencers. If you get something, I would be interested in your old Micron 2 into 1 if its not damaged.

Cheers mate....yeah it was OS Pipes that told me that they'd do the downpipes, and recommended the norton peashooter....no probs, will keep that in mind..it's not damaged at all....just would like to get the bike looking back to it's original.

The Dunstall decibel silencer is pretty similar in shape to the original XBR.

ahh... the dunstall decibel...... ;D

harks back to happy days when 'silencer' and 'megaphone' appeared side by side in the same sentence and it still made sense.... :P

The original Honda XBR system is nicely 'vocal' as supplied, suprising so for a standard system compared to the insipid farting of most modern standard pipes, and better looking.
