LED indicators

Hi
Has anyone got experience of wiring in LED indicators?

I've recently bought some which include ballast resistors to reduce the flash rate.
Wiring the rear 2 in and with my original front 2 I get the proper flash rate.When connecting the front 2 I get the higher flash rate.
I can get the correct flash rate if I substitute one of the LED's for an original. I can get the correct flash rate if I wire in the original AND the LED.
(I'm tempted to wire in original bulbs and hide them away in order to get these super-duper LED jobbies to flash correctly!!)
As you can guess I'm a complete numpty when it comes to electrickery.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Does the link below help at all? I have not gone there, yet, but intend to in the near future by fitting LED's to Sally. There is a wiring diagram link on the page.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no it doesn't reall help. I'm confident that I have wired the indicators and resistors as per the general instructions.
Any other ideas?

Aye Oz,

I think you're going to have to await either of the Steve's experience and knowledge. Basic 'water pipe' electrickery I can cope with, but the maths and parallel/series floors me, until I've either read up on it or asked an auto electrician to explain in laymens lingo!

Thanks anyway for the reply.
The supplier thinks that doubling up on the resistors should solve the problem, i.e. provide more resistance to reduce the flash rate.They are sending me a set FOC so I'll try that.

For all of those complete electrical dimwits like myself who fancy fitting LED's my problem was resolved by wiring in 2 more resistors into the circuit. Luckily I have enough space to locate them.
I can now flash as normal!!

I did mine by replacing the original relay with an electrical one. No ballast resistors or hassle needed.

Unfortunately the relay on my bike couldn't be replaced by a standard 2 or 3 pin jobbie.The bike in question is a V Max - the antithesis of all things thumper. But good fun!
