Aye Steffan,

If thou have the bread, spread it about a bit, unlike the 'Banking' fraternity! If thou must resort to 'tick', then get out thine own tools, or resort to purder for a bit until the reserves are replenished!  ;)

'Contemplative!'

....Dont ask me to do it...

Now you couldn't make this up.  I got hacked off with my non-seating bead on the DR (having rebuilt the rear brake).

So I decided to cut my losses, and re-commission the Skorpion.  Last night I put the tank on, battery in, topped up the oil, fueled it.  It had all been cleaned and laid up, ready to get taxed and used.

Just before I decided to try it I thought, no wait, I'll blow up the tyres.  Its only round the block, but better safe than sorry, after all its been a few months.

Front, no probs, gave it 35 psi.

Rear, remove valve cap.  No!  PSSSSHHHHHHHHH!!!  Valve comes away with cap, the metal insert was now in my hand.  Result- 2 otherwise functional bikes with 2 flat rear tyres.    >:(   I am still suffering the slings and arrows of public transport.

To add insult to injury, I thought on saturday I'll take both rear wheels to the bike shop in the car.  But now it seems to have developed some rough-running gremlin too!!!

Oh well.  At least I hadn't actually TAXED the skorpion!

Ok, at least my house is still standing, no tidal wave of debris advancing at 60 mph, and no need for a geiger counter.  Actually, things are fine....

Yeah, and that too....
 still!

One more thing. If possible take the tyre somewhere warm for a while to soften the rubber a bit,it will help it seat properly.

Hello All,

Thanks for advice and putting up with my waffle.

I took both flat rear wheels to a lockal shop.  To seat the DR rim properly, and to replace the valve in the Skorp.

Both now on their bikes, and I am no longer a full-time patron of London Underground Limited.

The rear brake of the DR now has stainless pistons too.

Hurrah!

Thanks for assistance.  I have now well and truely learned my lesson re. paying the man to do my tyres.....
