Grinny grinny grin grin!
« on: March 11, 2011, 10:06:13 PM »
 ;D ;D ;D Picked up my new bikey today! ;D ;D ;D

Can't stop grinning, so very chuffed. I know it's not a thumper, but I need to get this off my chest and you lot will just have to suffer it [for today at least]

First impressions... Bl00dy great! Smooth, effortless and comfortable. Done 100 miles and feel better afterward than I did after reaching the end of the drive on the XT! Can't wait to load her up and go on a long haul road trip.

Running in will be tough though as the bike is shouting out for revs, but I've to keep things under 5k for 500 miles.

Heyho. I'll shut up now. Carry on.

A couple of piccies of Vicky...

Still waiting for the 'GT' kit which means there are panniers, a top box, centre stand, hand guards and heated grips yet to be fitted. Hopefully these will arrive next week.

Would like to add, what a great service Thunder road provided. Yes there were a few issues (missing kit, taxing delay) but these things are outside thunder roads' control and the chaps in the showroom more than made up for it. Never been so well pampered.

Oh yes, our Squirrel has had a number of (motorcycle) ladies in his life, Beryl, Dolly and Abigail....I hope the new love of your life doesn't mean that Abigail too will be cruelly cast aside Pat!!  ;D ;D ( only kidding)

...Did the XT ever get named?

The XT was Poppy on acount of a rather persistant backfire on the overrun caused by 2 missing exhaust studs (now fixed). This one's Vicky (the V-strom) cos I couldn't think of anything else. Had a Suzi (the suzuki) before and the only other suggestion from the Squirrel household was Gina (short for Orangina). Anyone got anything better? (keep it clean!)

Hang on, I'm going no where, I've still got Abigail! Anywho, I thought you only had to be a thumper enthusiast.

It's a bit scary to be honest. Yes, I am chuffed, but now I'm worried I might scratch it, or worse still drop it. And then there's the stress of paying for it!

S'pose the thing to remember is it's a machine to do a job at the end of the day.

:P  For some, unknown, reason I think of the "V Strom" being said in a Swedish Chef sort of accent (Go Figure!) so why not name her Helga after that other famous lady?

I've bought two spanking new bikes in my paltry 28 years of biking:
Honda CB350S in 1987
Yamaha YBR125 in 2008

All other have been 2nd/3rd/nth hand items!
