I've had the 'old' Loobman for several years and it has been great!  I'd be interested to see how this 'push button' version works?...I can't seems to find any pictures.

I've got one but I think the vaseline is too thick to pass through the tubes properly.

It rots rubber you know.

Thank you indeed johnr. Postie left them in the woodshed, with a wee note scrawled across another letter. Kat then played hunt the package through the log pile until she found it and didn't know what was going on as I've been working away.

Just got to work out how to fit it to the bike.
Leaving Richards vaseline out of it, whats the best oil to use both on an ordiany chain and an x ring chain?

I've always used the cheapest 10/40 or 20/50 I can find. As long as it's clean new oil it doesn't seem to matter too much.

i use old engine oil in mine, cos ive got plenty of it, it only gets flung off anyway. doesnt seem to do it any harm.

On an uncharacteristically serious note may I reccomend a cheap chainsaw lube.  Contains 'non-fling' additives and is cheaper than bike chain lube.  Mid Wales residents can get it from Charlies.

Engine oil can be a bit thin.

I was lead to understand that while you can use old engine oil on cheap roller chains - thats what I used on the old GN250 - O rings and X rings really don't like all the microscopic bits of engine in old oil, apparently it buggers up the O rings. :-\

Agreed, but not living in Mid-Wales I've no idea whom "Charlies" might be!  :)

Alternative is either EP80 or EP90. Used engine oil is last resort and I don't like semi-synthetic/synthetic polymers on my back tyre or the swarf that it may contain. Definitely played havoc when used on chainsaw chains and pumps, if the contract payments were late coming through. Often resulted in excessive wear between the plates/rivets and potential scoring to the pump plunger and bore! ??? ???

"Nowt worse than having yur plunger badly scored in the bore lad!"  ::)
