So I had a Kawasaki KLR 650 (C2 from 1997 model) and hardly did any mileage on it. It sounded great and pulled like a horse but I had a nagging doubt about the cooling system. There was a switch put on there that, I was told, acted to switch the fan on earlier or in traffic. I never got it to do anything in any of the three positions but hardly got the engine warm, let alone hot enough to need the fan!
About 7 weeks ago I traded it in with another bike and got a lovely 600 Bandit in Mint condition. Problem is that I see a 600 multi cylinder as a small bike where a 650 single isn't! So i have been talking to the guy about getting the KLR 650 back, he is a dealer and knows nothing of the switch I am talking about. KLR is older than the Bandit by 7 years and in real terms is worth a fair bit less but I have no money to play with so it's take what I can get.
I am a "Know Nothing Bozo" when it comes to matters electrical so I need to know fast what I should do. If I sold the Bandit privately I would get more money and probably find a better "Big Single" which is all that I really want. I hate the Buying and selling bit though and it takes time as well as stressing me out!
Should I take the risk that the electrical thing will be sortable easily and cheap or should I just say "NO! " and wait until I find a better way forward?

Ideas and Opinions really appreciated.
