how long does it take to don a helmet, not as long as waiting for a bus??
Spent many years commuting in the UK... warm mid-layer, waterproof suit, boots, gloves; stash regular jacket and shoes in a top box (vile things, upset the balace) or in panniers, mess around with locks and chains; reverse at the other end. Takes a long while, especially if you obey all the highway code etc. whilst commuting.
If you follow ALL the rules, you would be riding like the local HOG on Sunday.
Break one speed limit, filter too fast or on the wrong side, cross a double white, pull a wheelie or stoppie and you're a highway criminal. Who has never done
any of those
Some just do it more enthusiastically than others

Hope to be riding with occasional crashes for another 20 years ....or die trying
