The solenoid is only part of the problem. The XT has a sub-link to connect the solenoid to the main loom and that's bu99ared too. Parts ordered and on their way, thanks for the tips.

BTW any theories why a short on the feed of the solenoid could lead to bad running?? I'm still not sure I've found the cause of the original fault.

I know with a lot of Yamahas every thing seems to go through one large relay.Indicators, starter circuit, fuel pump and god knows what else.

Check this relay for corrosion aswell.....thats if you have one  ;)

I'm having a carb icing problem....but only on one cylinder, will have to check connections and carb heater.

My 390cc Bonneville single would do 45 mph, but toasted a silencer in the process. Take care.

Sounds like one of those dual fuel economy cars going from electric to petrol.

The Mitas tyres are in their element at the moment ;)
Rob.

Anyone used these on a solo as a regular thing? Grip, wear, usual feedback? H03 from memory, am I right Rob?

Steffan

Yeah HO3 Steffan.
The lack of grip provided by the tyres is offset by the lack of grip offered by the road surface at the moment. They seem to cancel themselves out.
As for wear, I can safely predict a return trip to Moscow would result in no noticeable wear as the tyres are made from recycled russian tank tracks.

An unusual side effect from using the bike throughout the snowy season, thus far, is that I now have the pertest buttocks in the club. This is as a direct result of the number of times I have had to clench them during a journey.
I am thinking of writing to Mit**se Tyres and suggesting a novel advertising campaign.

'Tight a**e tyres, Economical and medically proven to improve the sphincter'

Think I found the problem.
Check power,continuity and resistance.....all OK !

Drained carbs.....Water in No1 !
So must have been freezing in the pilot jet when running.
Slow down, stop left to idle..heat of engine thawed ice....run tidy for the next mile then freeze again.
Will have to take it for a longer spin over Christmas to see if fully cured.
