Just a thought....
« on: October 22, 2010, 08:41:34 PM »
Here I am sitting at my PC and reading through all the forum content and looking at the names, not knowing who more than half are, a few I recognize, others I will probably never meet....sooooooooooooooooooo...a suggestion....poo poo it if you want but how about a "Rogues Gallery" with a (reasonably) up to date photo, include your bikes if you so wish, and a  bit about you...(no "War and Peace" ),  no pressure, nothing TOO serious.
I will start the ball rolling if you like and here is my "entry"

Ian, nearing retiring age, live in West Mids, love riding my bikes. Teach Engineering working for a company based in the NW. Served my apprenticeship in Heavy Engineering way back when. Love Classic Cars, Bikes and Steam Trains.

I struggle to do piccies, but must have managed at some point as there's one on that little bit that pops up on the left of each post.

Another engineer (brakes, now pumps), another northerner (Leeds) but no where near retireing (am I still the youngest member?).

Bikes: Hinckley Bonneville, MZ301 (plus enough bits to built most of two more, don't tell the wife), BMW K100 project.

Interests: Anything except Landrovers and camping stoves!

I'm wondering what I'm doing here now?  ;D

Me and Señora V.
After various tours of France and Spain, she has retired from the pillion; claims to have lost her death-wish  ???

Now age 58. I spent 14 years as a linesman on the 400kV system, NW england and N Wales. Busted knees; back to school, became Wayleave Officer, negotiating accesses and compensation for pylon works. Both retired and came to live up a mountain in Andalucia in 2003.

Current bikes: SLR650 with many mods to make it into a hill-climbing cafe-racer barhopper; to be completed in next 7 days ;D :o
Buell XB9R that is my forthcoming project... weight reduction and minimalisation planned. 8)

My likes haven't changed much in 30 years.... sexanddrugsandrockandroll, bikes, rugby league.

Yours truly-

Aged 31, had bikes from 14, was UK's youngest fully qualified bike instructor at 21, after a couple of years that spoiled bikes for me so I had a break and got into building Lowrider cars. Got the bikes back on the road several years back and try and build something interesting each year. Got 7 in the shed at the mo; TR1, DR800 sidecar project, Jawa/MZ scrambler project, GPZ500 shed racer, DR/SR620 almost done, '94 Speed Triple Endurance racer-rep, 2008 XT660Z Tenere.

Graham Carrick, club founder, serial project starter and non-finisher

Chequered work history ranging from Darth Vader impersonator (yes really) to Technical Author. Now very happily working as a self-employed handyman.

I'm married to Sue and we have two boys (Dylan and Dafydd), I also have a 16 year old daughter (Honour) from my first marriage.

I learned to ride motorbikes on field bikes (never my own unfortunately) and progressed through various scoots to a Starfire, then a 400/4, followed by an XBR500 (brand new in February 1987). Over the years I've owned all sorts of daft bikes but I have always had an XBR (or eight) in the garage. In 1998 I got my first sidecar and I've had one ever since (as well as sundry solos).

After a very long time using a motorcycle every day of the week I am having trouble at the moment getting used to the idea of being a leisure motorcyclist. I'm also starting to think that a return to field bikes (albeit fully legal and very trick) is on the cards.

Background in mechanical engineering but now work in computers (telecomms). SRX spends more time in bits than working but I get there in the end.
Permanent grumpy bastard.

Ok ok, a couple of years past the hill at 40, working for a good few years as an (un)civil servant, hoping to remain that way after the cuts  :-\ previous occupations including but not limited to (and in no particular order) lumberjack  ;D, motorcycle courier, cycle courier, office worker, private detective (no, really!), HGV driver, squaddie etc etc.

Moderate range of bikes from the sublime (GPz900R A1) to the ridiculous/crap (CD175). Currently got an MuZ Skorpion Traveller which is a lovely bike excepting the fact I never seem to find the time to ride it just now  :(

Apart from bikes I'm into scuba diving (wrecks especially, though I'm an instructor for my sins), amatuer radio, photography, airguns and too many other bits and bobs.

Steve from Leeds, confined to Lancaster as punishment for summat BIG I hope!

Brains Beer Obviously!
48 years old and have owned about 90 bikes since my Bantam d14/4 in 1971.  Chops, Old brits, Italian stuff, many Jap multi's and 10 or 11 Vespa and Lambretta scooters.
Most of my working life I just enjoyed moving around doing things from Tailoring Factory work up to regional sales manager with Three offices under me. Railway Wheeltapper fopr a few years and then divorced and went abroad work and tour. Got back and decided to learn summat official so I went as a student Nurse and, due to my work skills, I was the Rep' for the students to the Managers and I put my chin out too far one day. I spat the dummy and walked out. Had the Motysickle smash, Coma, Licence lost, licence regained thing and am now back with an XBR 500, a C90 and a Lifan monkey bike. Back up North and this past 18 months have had XJ900, FZ600, Enfield 500, XBR500, GSX 750ES and a couple of C90's. Back to the XBR and the C90 now.

Oh I got an ETZ250 sidecar outfit that needs electrics to get it running again and I know a live wire if it chucks me across the room when I grab it!

Also modelling the new "Aerobelly Fairing" here.

Here goes, hope this works.

Squirrelciv [AKA Pat] pictured with Dolly the dominator during a John 'O' groats to landsend ride I did in '06.
What to say... I'm older than I feel, been riding since 16 and before that if you count knackered moped field bikes. Never been one for large capacity machines, though I did dabble into sports bikes once (gsx600r). Currently riding a XT600e (and loving it!) with a much forgotten project XBR lurking under old bed sheets at the back of the garage. Most bikey things are on hold at the moment while I'm building a kitchen/dining room extension on my house (ordered the kitchen today, yippee! Spent £5k, boo!) Commute daily, summer and winter, but rarely get to go for a jolly just for the hey. Job is far too boring to mention and in my opinion, does not reflect any aspect of my lifestyle. I sort of just ended up doing what I do by accident, seem to be able to cope with it, and the monies not bad. Been around the club for a while and glad to be apart of it. My bikey likes tend to be medium capacity singles, the simpler the better, [though I do quite like the occational bobber and rocket 3's] and the cafe racer style really gets my juices flowing.

Right that's enough dribble, I'm off to a party.
Live long, live well, live happy
