Well what a blinder of a weekend
I had a small job to do on Saturday morning but it was only about 800 metres from my house and it only took two hours. After that I returned home to pack for a night away camping with my two lads. My destination was a small campsite near Hereford at a place called Preston-on-Wye. A bunch of the Harley lads I drink with had organised a camping weekend and when we arrived there were perhaps 40 or so people already there... and some very tasty Harley chops.
I set up the nice Vango tent I bought via this forum and soon after we were joined by BJ and his son Jacob, who teamed up with my two lads to climb trees and cause mayhem. After a lazy afternoon and a leisurely supper we set off on the mile walk to the pub and had a grand old time. Some of the lads are guitar players and they set up in the bar to belt out some tunes. When we returned to the campsite it was dark and my boys went straight off to sleep. This was a good thing because when the Harley lads returned they got the campfire going (yes the site still allows fires) and got the sound system out for a few hours of rock classics (god knows what all the canoeists thought of it).
There were some very interesting people there including Ned Kelly, an ex-wall of death rider. Then, this morning, a smart looking bloke cycled over to talk to the Harley boys and it transpired that he has a passion for Morgan 3 wheelers and Brough Superiors. He told us that his cheapest Brough (bought in the 60s, in boxes) cost £5 and turned out to be an ex-works racer

and the most expensive Brough he bought cost him £100. He still owns two SS100s and 6 (yes 6) Morgans. He was very interesting and we had a good old chinwag.
On the way home the boys and I stopped off at Steve H's place in Abergavenny and despite arriving unannounced they invited us in and gave me coffee - Thanks Steve.
We had a fantastic weekend and it was really good for me to go away with just my sons. My 8 year old has been getting cheeky lately and it helped to take him to somewhere new where he couldn't appeal to his mother's soft side. Having said that he had a good time despite getting told off a fair old bit.
